We’re Stepping It Up!

These are exciting time for The Character Guys. Nominated for a Reader’s Choice Award through Canadian Special Events and 3 more awards for our web series Fools For Hire. We have had such a blast contributing our brand of fun to so many impressive events. How are we feeling? Proud. We’ve been able to help make unique events with our original creative ideas, seasoned pro character actors, film-quality costuming -lots of it custom-made for us, and, of course, outside-the-box creative.

The original creative is always a result of fun, dynamic consult meetings with our event management clients -who ALREADY have amazing concepts and through lines for their upcoming events -they just need to know how to add that extra bit of magic that comes from characters, mini shows, a great emcee and more; the stuff that tips events over the edge into highly memorable occasions that leave guests and end-clients truly impressed. We love that stage of organization. That point when our event management friends just need that one missing piece of the puzzle. That’s why we never charge for meetings and consultation. Those meeting guarantee we will be on the same page as the event experts and knock it out of the park.

Here’s a few events we’ve added to in the last 6 months:

YPO Edge
highlight presentation -our master emcee, Mike Cavers was called in at the last minute to step out on the Vancouver Convention Center main stage (right before Justin Trudeau) and facilitate an official Guinness World Record for Mobileye’s Autonomous Car presentation -The Record: Most people watching the same VR 360 monie at the same time. Mike had to get 27,000 CEO’s to work together to make it happen -and got fervent thanks from the Mobileye team.

BC Creates thanks GVRD mayors -Transformed high-profile cocktail event packed with GVRD mayors and film work luminaries into an on location film shoot complete with director, boom operator, makeup girl AND DEADPOOL -and the guests as the background talent.

Director: “Ok everyone, we’re going to start the shoot in a minute. Just act natural, laugh, drink and look like you’re having the time of your life….and…ACTION!”

007 theme gets Cantrav nominated for Canadian Special Events Award

Hats off to Claire Duncan and the Cantrav Vancouver team for designing and executing such an on point event. We were so pleased to be called in to add our
character magic to really make this event pop. Providing atmospheric entertainment, James Bond and company roamed cocktail hour, while living gold statues posed on pedestals. Bond, KGB agent Romanova, Ernst Blofeld, Vesper Lynd, and Jaws put guests to the Spy Challenge to determine if they were naturally suited to be Mi% or KGB.During the show, James Bond took the stage as emcee for the night, keeping the program on track and bringing up the energy with comic flair.

Now that Claire and the team are nominated for CSE Award for entertainment, we’re even happier!

Darth Vader: An Alternative to Santa??

Come on. Let’s be open-minded. Vader has a warm cuddly side too. This was one of our favorite ideas for quite some time. A prominent software company said they wanted Santa to drop in on their Christmas bash…but worried that Santa was so typical. They wanted something memorable. Mike and Nick
Harrison were talking about it and suddenly their palms hit their foreheads. Software company? Christmas?  DARTH VADER NEEDS TO DROP IN! Next step was to get a Santa hat tailor made for Vader’s helmet, then off we went, Storm Troopers in tow. Hands down, the BEST photo booth ever. And since our Darth Vader is literally the best Vancouver costume in Canada -meticulously film accurate – it comes with a state-f-the-art voice modulator in the helmet! That means, the Lord of the Sith can banter with guests and even take the stage to introduce keynote speakers!

There are dozens more events we could show you, but let’s just say that anything we can dream up together -we can deliver and knock out of the park.
